This
blend of village and nomadic rugs are woven by both Armenian,
Kurdish, The Luri and other tribes, who lives in an area south-west
of the town of Isfahan. The tribes are just as colourful as the
rugs they weave. The numerous features of these rugs include their
rustic look and their durability. Goodquality wool and a strong
base weave cotton gives the rug weight and enables it to remain
flat on the floor.
Bakhtyari rugs are avaible with the garden motif "Khesti"
or in other varietys with large patterns. The best and finest
rugs are knotted under the same name in the villages of Saman,
Shahr Kurd and Chahal Shotur.
The Bakhtyari nomads themselves call their best rugs "Bibibaff".
This means that they are knotted by old women ("bibi"=woman,
"baff"=to knot ).
