Kelardash
rugs are fairaly rare, but known from a various antique paintings.
The village is located in the north of Iran and south for the
Caspian Ocean, on the road between Karadje and Chalus, by the
foot of the Kelarmountain, around the city Hassan, Kif.
The
motifs on Kelardasht rugs is usually a hexagon surrounded by white
primitive lines and maybe a scarab in the midarea. The central
part and the border has a decoration of primitive figures. motifs
and flowers and the ground coour is usually brick red.
The
pile is knotted by strong and dry wool, the weft is cotton and
knot used is the ghiodis.
