In
the eastern part of Iran, close to Turkestan, in the large area
named Khorassan, the city Mashad is situated. This city is an
important center for trading village and nomade rugs. The Mashad
or Meshed rugs are handknotted using cotton and wool. Often the
wool is handspun and dyed with plant colours. The colours is dark
and rich, the ground is often filled with flower motifs, surrounded
by traditional persian borders in different sizes.
